Head office BOOKING.COM
At the head of the Oosterdokseiland in Amsterdam, Booking.com’s international headquarters will be realised. With a surface area of 72,500 m2 – over a third of the Oosterdokseiland – this multifunctional building is one of the largest inner-city projects in Western Europe.
For Booking.com, the unique location was the main reason to settle on the Oosterdokseiland. The location on the IJ, near the centre of Amsterdam and almost on top of the Central Station, made this place perfect for the Amsterdam IT company. In 2015, Booking.com contacted BPD, the developer of the entire Oosterdokseiland. UNStudio, in the person of Ben van Berkel, was involved in the project as an architect.
With a BREEAM Excellent design certificate, the new head office of Booking.com can rightly call itself a sustainable building. The design of the building is based on Booking.com’s desire to create a ‘tech campus’. This campus covers approximately 63,500 sqm. and offers space for some 4,600 different types of workplaces, various social spaces, co-creation rooms, quiet workstations, restaurants and a roof terrace. The open character of the campus is enhanced by the fully glazed facade and two impressive atriums. The building also contains some 7,500 sqm. of apartments, 1,500 sqm. of public functions on the ground floor, a bicycle shed for 2,500 bicycles and an extension to an existing parking garage.
As BREEAM-NL assessor, C2N is closely involved in the project. The BREEAM-NL design certificate was already obtained in July 2017.
