Completion of The project Amsterdam Halfweg

On October 30th, Sunrise Real Estate opened its new distribution center at PolanenPark in Halfweg. First Service Business Events created a festive atmosphere with food trucks and more. C2N managed the project and ensured a smooth and successful delivery.

Innovative and Sustainable Distribution Center

The distribution center, designed by Architectenlab, covers approximately 20,000 m² and can accommodate up to four tenants, with two units currently available. The building has been designed with a strong focus on ecology: the outdoor space features wildflower meadows, maples, sloes, and herb-rich flowers. Additionally, the parking spaces are partially made with grass-concrete tiles, and swallow nesting boxes have been installed on the rear facade. The three insect hotels are entirely made from recycled materials, contributing to the sustainability goals.

A standout feature is the moss sedum roof, which not only enhances insulation and rainwater buffering but also increases the ecological value of the building. The building is located near high-voltage power lines, which resulted in its characteristic elongated shape.

The current grid congestion has also posed challenges during this project. The final power connection is expected to be completed by the end of Q1 2025. However, thanks to intensive collaboration and C2N's guidance, the building is currently operating ‘off-grid’ through a battery system powered by more than 3,500 PV panels on the roof. This system stores energy produced during the day for use at night or during periods of less sunlight, actively contributing to the energy transition and a sustainable future.

C2N in Action

C2N served as the project manager for this project, with Amresh Bissumbhar playing a key role. During the nine-month construction period, he was on-site four days a week, working closely with all involved parties. Thanks to C2N’s intensive dedication and involvement, the project objectives were efficiently met within the set timeline, resulting in a successful outcome.

Loods 5 as the First Tenant

Loods 5 is the first tenant of the distribution center and occupies more than a third of the available space. This location handles the supply for the six Dutch Loods 5 stores, which together cover nearly 100,000 m². These stores work with about 300 interior design brands, offering their unique collections.
