Key Features: Monumental building, repurposing, hospitality, retail, offices, light and space.
The Bank is located on one of the most prestigious and iconic sites in Amsterdam, Rembrandtplein. This impressive historic building has been given new life through its transformation into a dynamic mix of hospitality, retail, and office spaces, housing companies like Booking.com, BNP Paribas, Guerilla Games, Marqt, Starbucks, and Wagamama.
The design focuses on light and space, with the previously closed ground floor now opened up and fitted with floor-to-ceiling windows, including a new entrance at the corner of Rembrandtplein. The upper floors have been transformed into modern office spaces. The restoration of the façade is particularly noteworthy, with the relief, rhythm, and detailing carefully restored. The upper white rooftop extension is fitted with a glass skylight, creating a bright and airy atmosphere.
The atrium, which was enclosed in the 1960s, has now been converted into a spacious lightwell, with glass and natural stone taking center stage. A striking pedestrian bridge on the sixth floor adds an architectural icon to the building's design.
C2N was tasked with preparing an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) report and developing a strategy for sustainability. The BREEAM In-Use project has achieved a “Good” rating, optimizing and showcasing the sustainability of the project in current and future operations.
True value is created when performance and responsibility reinforce each other.
