Cluster Zuid is a renovation and new construction project for the University of Leiden, aimed at expanding the Humanities Campus. The existing building, dating from 1980, is undergoing an extensive renovation, with the facades preserved as much as possible. In addition, an extension of approximately 3,500 m² GFA is being added, bringing the total GFA to 7,850 m² for the redevelopment of the existing building. The project includes the construction of a large central hall that connects various educational and office spaces.
Sustainability is a key focus of this project, evidenced by the BREEAM Excellent certification achieved in 2022. The redevelopment of Cluster Zuid contributes to creating a modern and inspiring educational environment that fosters interaction between students and staff. The expected completion of the project is scheduled for the end of 2023.
C2N is acting as BREEAM Expert and supporting the university in meeting the sustainability requirements for this ambitious project.
A building that’s sustainable today stays relevant tomorrow.
Progress starts by asking the right questions – not by offering quick answers.
