Office building Faculty of Geosciences - Utrecht

Since 2004, we have been delivering sustainable and financially responsible real estate solutions. Through strategic advice and leading projects, we are shaping the future of real estate.

Details: Building inspired by geological layers and deformations.

The Faculty of Geosciences is a new office building for Utrecht University, specifically designed for the Faculty of Geosciences and the Utrecht Sustainability Institute. The building consists of 9 floors and a roof level, providing space for staff and graduate students, who can utilize extensive facilities, including bike storage over two floors, workspaces, study areas, instructional rooms, and a restaurant. The facilities are shared with the Joint Environmental Laboratory building and the Geo Research Cluster.

The architecture of the building is inspired by geological layers and deformations, reflected in the horizontal bands running across the exterior of the building. These design features align perfectly with the building's users and scientific focus.

C2N served as BREEAM Assessor, contributing to obtaining both the Design and Completion Certificates, with an Excellent score for sustainability. This project is a beautiful example of how sustainability and functionality come together in an innovative and future-proof learning and working environment.
