Details: National monument, redevelopment into hotel, green roofs, glass canopy.

The Westelijk Handelsterrein is a monumental warehouse complex from 1894, located in the historic Scheepvaartkwartier in Rotterdam. The complex consists of 36 individually lockable warehouses, spread over two levels beneath a glass canopy. The warehouses are accessible via the townhouse at Van Vollenhovenstraat 15 and are characterized by their distinctive dimensions and grass-covered roofs.

With a total area of 7,000 m², the Westelijk Handelsterrein currently houses restaurants, bars, galleries, and offices. The redevelopment plans aim to transform the complex into a hotel while preserving its monumental character and focusing on sustainability.

C2N is involved in this project as a BREEAM In-Use Expert, with the goal of achieving a BREEAM-NL In-Use certification during the redevelopment.
