Details: Transformation, BREEAM Very Good, sustainable living, local energy production.

De Kwekerij is a sustainable new-build project on Burgemeester Fockema Andreaelaan in Utrecht, developed by SSH and Jebber. The former KPN building is being transformed into 206 residential units for students and young professionals, with a total gross floor area of 6,877 m². The name "De Kwekerij" (The Nursery) refers to the area's horticultural past.

The project consists of 126 self-contained studios of approximately 20 m², each with private facilities, and 80 non-self-contained rooms of around 15 m², where residents share common areas such as a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and balcony. Commercial spaces will be added on the ground floor, contributing to a vibrant neighborhood.

Energy for the building is largely generated by PV panels. C2N serves as BREEAM Expert, and De Kwekerij achieved the design certificate in 2024 with a BREEAM rating of “Very Good.”
